Veteran Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero is close to making his debut for Argentina’s Racing Club as he seeks to jump-start his stalled career.
The 39-year-old, who joined Racing on a free transfer from Brazil’s Avai in January, has made just 10 appearances in all competitions since October 2021.
He started training with his Racing teammates last week and has impressed manager Fernando Gago with his sharpness, according to local news outlet Ole.
It added that he is under consideration for a place in the match-day squad for Racing’s home Primera Division clash against Tigre on Sunday.
Guerrero is Peru’s all-time leading scorer with 38 goals in 107 international appearances.
His 21-year professional career has included spells at Bayern Munich, Hamburg, Corinthians, Flamengo and Internacional.
