To achieve peace in the conflict in Ukraine , the political will of the West and Kiev is needed. This was announced on February 22 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“For a speedy peace, the political will of the West <…> and its Kyiv wards is needed. And we don’t observe this, ”Zakharova said at a briefing.

At the same time, earlier on the same day, the head of the European Union’s foreign service, Josep Borrell, called the position according to which the refusal of military assistance to Kiev would help end the conflict in Ukraine a huge naivete.

In early February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that world leaders were not trying to convince Ukraine to return to peace talks. According to him, the West refused to negotiate, and also forced the Kiev regime to withdraw from the negotiation process at the very moment when there was still an opportunity to end it politically.

In January, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, pointed to the readiness of the Russian Federation to complete the NWO if its goals are achieved through negotiations .

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass . The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region due to the increased shelling of Ukrainian troops.
