Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on Sunday swore in four new cabinet ministers including ministers of justice and human rights, education, labor and employment promotion, and foreign trade and tourism.
Prime Minister Alberto Otarola led the swearing-in ceremony at the Government Palace in Lima.
The new minister of justice and human rights is Daniel Maurate who has a master’s degree in public administration and management and served as labor minister under former president Ollanta Humala from 2011 to 2016.
Also on Sunday, Maurate replaced his predecessor as Peru’s former president Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006) landed in Lima after being extradited from the United States to face corruption charges.
Magnet Marquez, who had been serving as deputy minister of institutional management, was sworn in as the minister of education. At the helm of labor and employment is Antonio Varela, a lawyer specializing in international law.
The president appointed Juan Mathews, with experience in international cooperation, as the minister of foreign trade and tourism.
